Asahi Brewery Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, President: Kenichi Shiozawa) and Panasonic Co., Ltd. utilize the beverage container "Mori no Tumbler" that utilizes organic resources at high concentrations, and CO 2 emissions in consumer behavior. We have also entered into a business alliance agreement with the common purpose of promoting the reduction of plastic waste and fostering a culture of reusing beverage containers.

By forming a business alliance from the joint development so far, we will utilize the strengths of both companies to jointly work on "making things" such as consumer enlightenment, expansion of utilization destinations, branding, etc., and activities for commercialization of "Forest tumbler" Will be strengthened. By April 2021, we will build a production system and establish a sales system to the general public to create sustainable businesses.

ABOUT THE FOREST TUMBLER

Due to recent marine plastic problems, depletion of petroleum resources, and environmental problems such as global warming, the United Nations has decided to efficiently use natural resources (SDGs * Goal 12) and prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution (SDGs Goal 14). Set as a development goal, there is a worldwide need to reduce the amount of plastic used. Under these circumstances, the two companies focused on changing the consumption behavior of disposable beverages, and jointly developed the world's first eco-cup "high-concentration cellulose fiber molding material" as a non-disposable beverage container. We have developed "Mori no Tumbler" (nicknamed "Mori Tan") and started test sales in small lots from July 2019. To date, we have collaborated with companies, governments, and consumer groups to develop a total of about 10,000 outdoor events such as "GAMBA EXPO 2019," "B-1 Grand Prix in Akashi," and "Tsukuba Craft Beer Fest 2019." Assuming that the number of disposable plastic cups has been reduced by about 30,000, it is calculated that plastic waste has been reduced by about 0.3 tons and CO 2 has been reduced by about 2.1 tons.
