Kinari is a high performance, plant-based plastic materials containing up to 85% cellulose; yet it has almost the same properties as petroleum-based resins. In April 2023, Panasonic Production Engineering Co., Ltd. will start selling samples of kinari * 1 (Below, omitted as kinari70), a molding compound made from 70% plant-derived cellulose fiber and resin, developed by the Manufacturing Innovation Division of Panasonic Holdings Corporation.

In December 2022, Panasonic Production Engineering Co., Ltd. began mass production sales of kinari (* 1), a molding material developed by the Manufacturing Innovation Division of Panasonic Holdings Corporation, which is made from 55% plant-based cellulose fiber compounded with resin, as well as handling trial materials on an online shopping site operated by Chip One Stop Co., Ltd.

The Manufacturing Innovation Division of Panasonic Holdings Corporation, has developed a fully biodegradable molding material (2) by applying its previously developed technology for blending a high concentration of plant-derived cellulose fiber into resins to biodegradable plant-derived resins (polylactic acid) and other materials. By adding a high concentration of cellulose fiber to biodegradable resin, we succeeded in developing a molding material with excellent mechanical properties and biodegradability.
